This sensor is a magnetic contact sensor for doors, windows, and other entry points. When the magnet and the sensor are separated, the sensor sends a wireless signal to trigger the alarm. When you mount one piece on the door or window, and the other piece on the frame, the sensor will activate whenever the door or window is opened. For best performance, you should not mount this sensor directly on a metal surface. The sensor and the magnet should be no further than ¼ inch apart when the door or window is closed. When applying the adhesive tape, make sure that you are mounting on a clean, flat, dry surface.A starter battery is included with the sensor, and we offer additional 23A batteries for purchase on our web site.

  • One “23A” 12-Volt battery
  • 433MHz wireless signal
  • ~ 150 ft. range, with line of sight
  • LED light flashes for 1-2 seconds to indicate activity
  • LED lights up solid to indicate a low battery
  • Magnetic sensor protects doors, windows, and other entry points
  • Ready To Arm - system knows if a door or window is left open
  • Mount on a clean, flat, dry surface. Place a spacer between the sensor and any metal surfaces.
  • LED light shows activity and low battery warning

Small footprint and long range
Review by Hanan

They are nicely built. the sensors are small. the magnets are large. the state is always detected. some are directional depending on the orientation. so try them first so test them and the orientation before you permanently install them.

They work fine
Review by Fred S

They work like they are supposed to. Everyone should be aware however, that placing them on metal windows and doors can interfere with the signal. They need to be installed a minimum of 1/2 inch from the metal. I purchased a couple sheets of styrofoam (8”x10”x1/2”). I cut the pieces to size with a straight edge ruler and a utility knife. Makes a nice clean cut. With this alteration the sensors work fine. Also, I discussed this issue with support staff and they sent along additionally needed two-sided install tape. Btw, this company provides excellent support. Definitely a strong point for them.

Quality Product / Documentation could be better.
Review by SOP Expert

Only one thing that lets the product down is the booklet that comes in the box. It appears to have been translated from Chinese to English which is ok, but there's a real lack of exactly what you should do first when you get it out of the box like a 'Quick Start Guide'. The downloadable instructions found on Fortress website are a lot better but there is still room for improvement. I used to write SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) for Jaguar/Landrover and it is very important that you know exactly what to do and in what order. Would also benefit from the App for iphone & Android having the exact same terminology, as headings and switches are called different things ... or Fortress could at the very least write an SOP for Android users and one for iphone users. The only function downside with Ani Wifi Alarm is that the main ARM/DISARM does actually allow you to arm the system even when a door/window is not closed. I know that the YALE alarms do not allow you to arm the house if a door or window containing a sensor is open. But apart from that, I am happy.

Rview the type of windows and doors you have before ordering
Review by Porkmeister26

The contacts work great on wood doors and wooden window frames. The metal messes with the signal to the base station. The farther away the worse it gets.

Fortress Door / Window Contact Sensor
Q

Does this work with my GSM 3G 4G Wireless unit

A

Hello, this will work with your Vea GSM 3g/4g system. Thank you, Cecilia.

Q

Could you let us know the dimensions of each part of the sensor please? Thanks

A

Hi, Mickey, The larger half of the sensor (the transmitter) is 7 cm tall by 2 1/2 cm wide, and has a depth of 1 3/10 cm. The smaller half of the sensor (the magnet) is 5 cm tall by 1 cm wide, with a depth of 1 3/10 cm. Thanks, Amanda, Fortress Security Store

Q

i would like to add a door contact to my shed. My only concern is the winter temperatures can drop down into the single digits. Will that affect the contact?

A

Hi Patrick, As long as the temperature doesn't deep in the negatives then the door contact should still work great in the shed. Thanks, Jessica
