Received the item much quicker than expected. Had to locate the manual on my older GSM system. Adding the water sensor to an unused zone was easy. Enclosed instructions were helpful. Double sided mounting tape for the transmitter worked fine on my inside the house water heater; would have liked some sort of mount for float sensor to attach to side of heater or the pan other than wrapping the cable around the drain nozzle. Quick manual test resulted in audible alarm followed by call and text to my cell phone. Hope to never need it.
After the 1st one tested out to be ok, I ordered a 2nd sensor for water heater.
I haven't had to actually use it but the tests I ran proved successful. I hope I never need it but its good to know that if there is a problem I will be alerted before crisis occurs.
When the plastic reaches the top of the rod - it triggers the sensor.
I would like to have had a much longer wire (nine feet possibly) connecting the detector to the transmitter so that the detector could be on the floor and transmitter mounted near the ceiling.

Does submerging the sensor damage it?
Hi, Kat, The water sensor is not submersible. The button portion of the sensor, of course, is made to withstand contact with water, but you will want to mount the sensor at such height that the top half (wherein lie the transmitting mechanisms) does not get wet.
